A passive radon system is a radon mitigation setup that relies on natural air movement (instead of a fan) to draw radon gas from beneath the home and vent it safely above the roofline.
It usually includes:
A vertical PVC pipe running from below the foundation up through the attic and roof
Properly sealed penetrations and sump covers
No fan or powered component
These systems are typically installed during construction to give radon gas a pathway to escape — but they don’t always move enough air to lower radon to safe levels.
Here’s the issue: without a fan, passive systems can’t create enough suction to remove radon in many homes, especially in areas like Colorado where radon levels are naturally high.
Over 60% of passive systems we test are not effectively reducing radon — meaning many homeowners think they’re protected when they’re not.
Test Your Home – Even with a system in place, radon levels may be above EPA action level (4.0 pCi/L). Testing is the only way to know.
Upgrade to Active – If your levels are elevated, we can easily convert your passive system to an active one by adding a custom-sized radon fan and performing a quick inspection.
Get Peace of Mind – Our upgraded systems come with a 10-Year Warranty, are fully DORA- and NRPP-compliant, and can significantly reduce radon levels — often below 2.0 pCi/L.
